1. SAFEGUARDING CONCERN PROCEDURE
When this applies
- Any concern involving a learner under 18
- Any disclosure of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or serious welfare concern
- Any behaviour that suggests immediate or future risk
Step-by-step
- Stay calm. Listen. Do not ask leading questions.
- Do NOT promise confidentiality.
- Ensure immediate safety of the learner.
- Record facts only:
- Date
- Time
- What was said or observed
- No opinions
- Report immediately:
- If you are NOT the owner → contact the owner
- If you ARE the owner → escalate directly to the relevant authority
- If there is imminent danger:
- Call emergency services immediately
- Do not wait for approval
- Parents/guardians:
Informed only where safe and appropriate
Log the concern securely.
Never do
- Investigate yourself
- Discuss with anyone not involved
- Delay reporting
